Yesterday morning the members of the delegation attended the meeting of the 4th joint intergovernmental commission of Slovenia and Kazakhstan presided by the Kazakh Minister of Health Mr. Yelzhan Birtanov and Mr. Iztok Mirošič, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia. The meeting was followed by The City of Peace international conference at the famous Nazarbayev Center, organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Astana being proclaimed the capital of Kazakhstan. The guests were addressed by Mr. Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Mr. Adilbek Zhaksybekov, Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and First Mayor of Astana.

The many eminent panelists included numerous senior officials of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), among others Mr. Franco Frattini, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Mr. Agris Preimanis, Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Mr. Zhenis Kassymbek, Minister of Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, Mr. Daniel A. Witt, President of the International Tax and Investment Center, Mr. Ariel Cohen, Director of the Center for Energy, Natural Resources and Geopolitics (CENRG), Mr. Ravi Batra, Chairman and CEO of the international corporation Greenstar Global Energy Corp., Mr. Asset Issekeshev, Mayor of Astana, and Mr. Kairat Kelimbetov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Center. The President of VZMD spoke to them and many other attendees. In the evening, a reception was hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the Astana Ballet Hall, which was followed by a gala dinner.

As part of the Slovene business delegation to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Verbič will today participate at the Slovene-Kazakh business forum with B2B talks and numerous other accompanying activities at the Astana Hilton, where he will present the activities and opportunities offered by the international business-investor programs of the VZMD Invest to Slovenia - investo.si and International Investors' Network - invest-to.net.

In addition to the scheduled program, Mr. Verbič will participate in other meetings with people whom he had met and developed a collaboration with upon his visit in Kazakhstan in 2013. That year Mr. Verbič, as a member of the delegation accompanying the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Karl Erjavec, actively participated at the business conferences
in the capital city Astana (VIDEO by RTV Slovenia) and at the Almaty business, cultural, and scientific center, which were attended by representatives of more than 230 Kazakh and 28 Slovene companies.
