Today an international conference “Joint ESAs Consumer Protection Day 2017” is taking place in Prague, opened by the president of the board of European Supervisory Authorities (ESA) and the European Banking Authority (EBA) Andrea Enria and the Member of the European Parliament Sven Giegold. The important conference was organised by the joint board of ESA, comprised of ESMA - European Securities and Market Authority, EIOPA - European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, and the EBA.
To this annual conference, that the President of VZMD Mr Kristjan Verbič actively attended last year (on the photograph at the Joint ESAs Consumer Protection Day 2016 in Paris), the organisers once again invited VZMD, which will be represented along with numerous other obligations through the European Federation of Investors and Financial Services Users (Better Finance), where the President of the VZMD is a member of the Executive Board.
Alin Iacob, a member of the Executive Board of Better Finance, participates as one of the introductory speakers in the segment "Retail conduct supervision - the experience from Central and Eastern Europe". In addition to that the discussion is primarily about the differences in the rights and opportunities that occur among the European investors and consumers despite the single market and European regulations. The distinguished participants focused on the needs of the consumers and investors of the Central and Eastern Europe and the types and models of supervision being used.
Regarding this the VZMD has had numerous constructive suggestions in the previous years as well as at the conference last year, where Mr Verbič introduced the VZMD initiatives to establish an institute of the European Tribune or Ombudsman for the area of economic rights in the EU – especially in the capital and financial markets – and establishing uniform criteria and standards in the establishment of a single capital market.
Otherwise the VZMD was also invited to the 6th international conference “Impact Investment Opportunities in Central & Eastern Europe - CEE Impact Day 2017” by the organisers, which has been taking place in Vienna since yesterday and is attended by investors, selected social businesspeople, representatives of institutions and invited speakers from the areas of influential investments.
During this time the President of the VZMD is attending the diplomatic reception, on the occasion of the event Ottawa Welcomes the World 2017, as a member of the Slovenian business delegation, which is taking place on the 150th anniversary of the confederation of Canada and where Slovenia is also being presented. The delegation arrived in Canada on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Slovenia and Canada.
