The strong delegation is comprised – in addition to the representatives of the Government of the RS, Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SDH), Bank Assets Management Company (DUTB), Slovenian Tourist Board (STO), Public Agency for Entrepreneurship, Internationalization, Fore­ign Investments and Technology (SPIRIT Slovenia), the Canadian Slovenian Chamber of Commerce – of over 20 representatives of Slovenian companies, including the President of the PanSlovenian Shareholders' Association (VZMD) Kristjan Verbič, MSc.

Directly after their arrival in Toronto, the members of the delegation attended the evening reception of the Slovenian community living in Canada, which took place in the Slovenian church and culture centre. The gathered members were addressed in the extremely friendly atmosphere by the Minister for Slovenes abroad Gorazd Žmavc, the Honorary Consul General of the RS in Canada John Doma, the Head of the Sector for Bilateral Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RS Franc But, MSc, and the President of the Vseslovenski kulturni odbor in Toronto Marjan Kolaric.

Yesterday the events continued with the business B2B talks between the Slovenian and Canadian companies and the Canadian Slovenian Tourism and Economic Forum, where in addition to the previously mentioned speakers the participants were addressed by the Member of the City Council and representative of the Mayor of Toronto Joe Mihevc  of Slovenian origin, the Ambassador of the RS in Ottawa Marjan Cencen, the Head of Internationalization and Foreign Direct Investment Division at SPIRIT Slovenia Matej Skočir, MSc, the representative of the DUTB Tanja Štrukelj, and the representative of the STO Vesna Mojsilović.

As part of the B2B talks, Mr Verbič also met with the President and CEO of the investment firm Rocklinc Investment Partners Inc., Jonathanom Wellumom, Director of Enervoxa Vandit Vermo and representative of Metro Ontario Inc. Metro Miran Vamberger.

The events concluded with the evening reception prepared by the Honorary Consul General John Doma.

This was not Mr Verbič's first meeting with the numerous Canadian businesspeople and other participants of the forum, as this visit to Canada is the third since 2013, when he attended several business meetings and conferences in Toronto, while in May last year he also attended the 4th international conference Centrallia in the Canadian Winnipeg as a member of the SPIRIT Slovenia business delegation. Tomorrow the members of the delegation will travel to Ottawa where they will attend the event Ottawa Welcomes the World 2017 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. There, Slovenia will have its own exhibition space showing Slovenian history, economy, and culture. Slovenia will be presented primarily as a tourist destination with specially presented potential investments and the tourist perspectives and projects.

As part of the jubilee 50th tour of the international business-investor programmes of the VZMD-Invest to Slovenia (investo.si) and the International Investor' Network (investo.international), Mr Verbič will travel to Washington after the completion of the delegation's programme, where he will attend the reception of the yearly congress of the International Union for Housing Finance (IUHF) at the invitation of the organisers. VZMD has been collaborating successfully with this renowned association ever since the last year's international congress of the European Federation of Building Societies (EFBS) which took place in Budapest and where Mr Verbič was one of the invited speakers.
