Yesterday the PanSlovenian Shareholders' Association (VZMD) President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, arrived in the Chilean capital of Santiago to take part in the Economic delegation lead by the Director-General of the Directorate-General for Environment, Mr. Daniel Calleja. Mr. Verbič set off for Chile immediately after the end of the conference program and the annual General meeting of the European Federation of Investors and Financial Services Users (Better Finance) in Stockholm, where, among 14 candidates, he was elected to the Executive Board of this influential European federation which consists of more than 50 national associations of investors and shareholders.
In addition to elections, this meeting was primarily marked by the 50th anniversary of the Swedish Shareholders' Association (Aktiespararna). The special ceremony has been attended by more than 500 prominent guests among others highest representatives of Better Finance and World Federation of Investors (WFI). The attendees watched a special tailor-made documentary for this occasion, which reminded many attendees of the retrospective »10 years of VZMD«(VIDEO). As part of the conference, the attendees were acquainted with the developments in the case of "VolksWagen scandal".
Immediately after arrival in Santiago yesterday, the VZMD President attended the Launch of the EU-Chile Dialogue on Environment with the local Minister of Environment, Mr. Pablo Badenier Martinez (on the right foto), however the members had attended the reception at the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs beforehand. The event continued with the conference, where the attendees were addressed by the President of the association Eurochile, Mr. Vicente Caruz, as well as by the Director-General Mr. Calleja. In so doing and at the invitation by the influential Chilean businessmen, the President Mr. Vicente Caruzo and the Executive Director Mr. Jose Aravena, the VZMD President joined the working lunch of the EuroChile Business Foundation. Besides the conference and signed of a cooperation agreement on sustainable economy, the attendees were involved in discussions on many B2B issues which were followed by the gala evening reception.
The delegation's program today continued with the meeting with Production Development Corporation, receptionon at the Ministry of Energy and the reception by the Mayor of Santiago, Ms. Caroline Montserrat Tohá Morales (on the left foto by: Luis Hidalgo Parra) and meeting with the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. Delegation will also meet with representatives of financial institutions such as Inter-American Development Bank, Development Bank of Latin Americ and Eurpoean Investment Bank. The program will end with the evening's award ceremony 2016 Eurochile Awards. In parallel with the events, the VZMD President also visited the OECD council and met again with the Secretary General of OECD, Mr. Angel Gurria.
By visiting Chile, the 4th this year's tour of the international business-investor programs of VZMD: Invest to Slovenia – investo.si and International Investors` Network – investo.international will be concluded.
After presentations in the past two years in Abu Dhabi, Astana, Almaty, Baku, Belgrade, Bled, Bratislava, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Buffalo, Bucharest, Cape Town, Celje, Chicago, Doha, Dubai, Vienna, Eindhoven, George Town, Grodno, Helsinki, Istanbul, Yaroslavl, Kiev, Copenhagen, Krakow, Ljubljana, Madrid, Milan, Minsk, Montevideo, Moscow, New Delhi, New York, Ouagadougou, Paris, Piran, Praia, Priština, Reykjavik, San Francisco, Skopje, Taipei, Tehran, Tel Aviv, Tirana, Tokyo, Toronto, Warsaw, Vitebsk, Washington, Wroclaw, Wiesbaden and Zagreb, VZMD's international programs continue to provide efficient presence and presentation for its partners on five continents this year as well.
