An important General Assembly took place in Vienna, Austria for the telecommunications group A1 Telekom Austria GROUP (A1 GROUP), the 100% owner of A1 SLOVENIA. The joint-stock company A1 GROUP is a leading provider of digital services and telecommunications in Central and Eastern Europe, with over 24 million users across 7 countries and approximately €4.4 billion in revenues. Its majority shareholder is América Móvil (59.8%), the third-largest wireless services provider in the world with 300 million users and approximately €45 billion in revenues, publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), alongside numerous minority shareholders.

In Ghent, Belgium, the two-day meeting of the World Federation of Investors (WFI) concluded last night. The Executive Committee session was actively attended by the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, who is also a member of the Committee. Yesterday, the Recommendations for the new European Commission for the 2024-2029 mandate, prepared last week by the Financial Services Users Group (FSUG) at the European Commission, were published. President of VZMD, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, actively participated as a member during the two-day FSUG session in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Today marks the beginning of the two-day session of the Expert Advisory Group of the Financial Services Users Group at the European Commission (FSUG), taking place in Vilnius, Lithuania. Among the active participants is the President of VZMD, Mr. Kristjan Verbič. This is the final FSUG meeting before the current European Commission's term ends, with the session's conclusions to be utilized in the Commission's final proposals.

With his attendance at the European Consumer Summit 2024 last week, the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, concluded his intensive four-day visit to Brussels, where he also attended the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF 2024), the International conference of the European Federation of Investors and Financial Services Users (BETTER FINANCE), as well as numerous other meetings.

As Belgium is holding the EU Council presidency, Brussels is playing host to numerous ministerial meetings and high-profile events this week, with the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, attending as many as three of them: the European Consumer Summit 2024, the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF 2024), and the International conference of the European Federation of Investors and Financial Services Users (BETTER FINANCE). He arrived in Brussels as early as Tuesday and met with some of the participants of these events, and has been actively involved in the high-intensity developments in Brussels both yesterday and today.  

A day-long meeting of the Expert Advisory Group of the Financial Services User Group at the European Commission (FSUG), a member of which is also the VZMD President, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, took place last Thursday, with active participation of the European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and Capital Markets Union, Ms. Mairead McGuinness. She received several questions from the FSUG members covering the most pressing issues regarding the consumers and retail investors, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises in the context of financial services.

Last Thursday and Friday, the University of Florence, its Department of Legal Sciences, and Harvard Law School Association – sponsored by the Italian National Forensic Science Institute – organized the fourth International Law Conference ‘Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem Nexus & its socio-economic implications: what lies ahead?’. The Nexus approach is a concept that addresses the challenges of sustainable development in a comprehensive manner, taking into account several variables simultaneously, and emphasizes the interdependence of water, energy and food security, as well as the ecosystems that support this security. The high-profile conference featured many prestigious international institutions, including the Stanford Law School, the University of Cambridge, the Beijing University, the Universidade de Brasilia, the European Court of Justice, the European Central Bank, and the NYC Bar Association.

The official program of the Slovenian economic delegation accompanying the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Ms. Nataša Pirc Musar, on the occasion of her official visit to the Republic of Bulgaria, is taking place today in Sofia. The guests at the Bulgaria-Slovenia business forum were, alongside the President of the Republic of Slovenia, addressed by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rumen Radev, as well as the directors of government agencies of both countries for promoting investments, SPIRIT Slovenija and BSMEPA, Mr. Rok Capl and Mr. Boyko Takov respectively.
